SafetyVantage is pleased to announce the release of their Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) online training course. TDG training is required by law for anyone that handles or transports dangerous goods, including explosives, gases, and corrosives. The TDG course is aligned with the most recent Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.

While dangerous goods may sound like infrequently encountered substances, they are commonly shipped across Canada by air, sea, road, and rail. They can be found in every house – and include the batteries that power your smoke alarm, the paint on the walls, and the propane for the barbeque. Although these goods are safe in small, consumer quantities, their danger increases exponentially in large quantities and therefore the transportation of these goods are regulated. This Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) course enables learners to understand these dangers, how to control them to mitigate risk, and how to approach the transport of dangerous goods with the right precautions.

The TDG course is built upon the foundation of the recently revised Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations. Incorporating the new legislation, this course is a robust training piece designed to give learners all the information they need to identify, label, document, and securely load dangerous goods for transport.

Course topics include:

  • Introduction to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Classifying dangerous goods
  • Using the TDG schedules
  • Using dangerous goods safety marks
  • Transporting dangerous goods
  • Documenting the transportation of dangerous goods
  • Responding to dangerous goods emergencies
  • Reporting dangerous goods incidents
  • Special cases and exemptions

The course is delivered online and includes interactive exercises and quizzes. Once a learner successfully completes the course an TDG training certificate is issued online.
