This Wildlife Awareness course includes bear awareness and is designed for field workers and others who may be active in remote wilderness areas. In addition to covering the remote wilderness area legislated requirements, it explores wilderness concepts (like habitat encroachment and nuisance animals) and safety procedures for animal encounters, attacks, and evacuations.

- The Human impact on nature
- Habitat encroachment
- Human habituation
- Wildlife protection legislation
- Sanitation and housekeeping
- Wildlife-related workplace roles and responsibilities
- Dangerous Wildlife:
o Large Ungulates
- Wildlife identification
- Wildlife ranges
- Behaviour and characteristics
- Encounter prevention
- Defensive behaviours
- Encounter procedures
- First response treatment
- Emergency Response Plans (ERPs)
- Basic emergency response procedures
- Wilderness Evacuation
To successfully complete the course, learners have 3 attempts to achieve 80% or higher on the exam. Upon completion the learner receives a Certificate of Achievement that is valid for 3 years from the date of completion.
